World Symposium on Transport and Land Use Research 2020

WSTLUR 2020 postponed to 2021

Dear WSTLUR Authors,

After much deliberation, we have decided to postpone the WSTLUR conference. The uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, travel restrictions, and economic consequences makes planning a safe and well-attended conference difficult. The conference will be rescheduled for August 2021, hosted by Portland State University, and held in Portland, OR. We will be sending out new information about the exact dates in the coming weeks.

Those who have already registered for the conference will receive a refund. We will re-evaluate the WSTLUR 2021 conference fee structure in light of any changes to conference expenses. However, we will make every attempt to keep these changes to a minimum. If you have made travel arrangements, please check with your airline and lodging for their requirements about refunds or credits.

We will have a new call in the Fall of 2020. Authors may submit new papers to conference tracks under this call. As with our previous conferences, a subset of the papers from the conference in 2021 will be invited to submit for publication in the Journal of Transportation and Land Use (JTLU).

In the meantime, we have decided to release the reviews of papers to the authors. Because the situation requires a new call, we have decided not to make any acceptance decisions for the conference or invitations to JTLU at this time. Please freely use the released reviews to improve your paper. You have several options for what to do with it:

  • Authors who have submitted papers are welcome to revise and resubmit these papers under the new call assuming that the paper has not been presented elsewhere in the meantime. These resubmissions will have continuity in this process and will retain the same reviewers.
  • If you choose to submit your improved paper to JTLU for publication now, we ask that you include a point-to-point response document that details how you have addressed each review comment one by one exhaustively. Please combine the response document with your revised manuscript into one PDF file for JTLU submission. Please also indicate your WSTLUR paper ID so that we could expedite your review by leveraging the existing reviews in the JTLU paper screening process and trying to get the same reviewers if your paper passes the screening process.  Please note that, due to the conference postponement, WSTLUR will not be able to financially support JTLU in 2020 and your paper may subject to JTLU publication fees if accepted.
  • You are free to submit your paper to another journal. You may submit this paper for presentation only to WSTLUR 2021, if you have not presented it elsewhere in the meantime.
  • Dr. Kara Kockelman is organizing an online conference Bridging Transportation Researchers for early August 2020 (https://bridgingtransport.wordpress.com/). We are hoping to have one or more WSTLUR sessions and authors may to choose to submit papers from this pool to present there.

Despite these extraordinary circumstances, we remain committed to the WSTLUR symposium series and creating a forum for scholarly discussion. However, at this time, we wish everyone to focus on a safe recovery from this pandemic.

Your conference co-chairs,

Kelly Clifton, Jennifer Dill, Yingling Fan
